- 01Check whether it is refurbished. Oppo’s A series is one of the most heavily refurbished ranges sold in Nigeria. Look for mismatched screws, a replacement screen with a slightly different colour temperature at the edges, and a back cover that sits proud at one corner. Ask for the original box and match the IMEI on it.
- 02Oppo and Google account locks. Settings, then Users and accounts. Both the seller’s Google account and any HeyTap or Oppo account must be removed. A locked ColorOS device cannot be reset past the setup screen.
- 03ColorOS version and security patch. Settings, then About device, then Version. If the security patch is more than a year old, Oppo has stopped updating this model. That is not a reason to walk away on a cheap handset, but it should be reflected in the price.
