This policy explains what information Cost.ng collects when you visit, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. It applies to cost.ng and its subdomains.

Who we are
Cost.ng is an independent price index published in Nigeria. It is not owned by or affiliated with any phone retailer, importer or marketplace. For anything relating to this policy or your data, contact the details on our contact page.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and correction reports. If you send us a price correction or message us, we receive whatever you choose to include, typically your name, email address and the content of your message.
- Comments. If you comment on a page, we store your comment, the name and email you supply, and your IP address. Your email is not published. Comments may be checked by an automated spam filter.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Our host records standard request data, IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, and timestamps, for security and troubleshooting.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics, connected through Google Site Kit, to understand which pages are useful and how people find them. This is aggregate reporting; we don’t use it to identify individual readers.
- Advertising. Our advertising partners may set cookies or similar identifiers to measure and, where permitted, personalise the ads you see.
We do not ask for, collect or store payment details. Cost.ng does not sell anything, we publish reference prices only.

Third-party advertisers set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. We don’t control those, and we don’t share your personal information with them.

- To respond to your messages and verify price corrections
- To keep the site secure and prevent spam and abuse
- To measure which content is worth producing more of
- To display advertising that funds the site
We do not sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
- Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up replies make sense in context.
- Messages sent to us are kept only as long as we need them to deal with your request and to keep a record of any price correction it led to, unless there’s an ongoing reason to keep them longer.
- Server logs are kept for a short period and then discarded; the exact window is set by our hosting provider.
- Analytics data is retained according to the provider’s settings.
Your rights
Subject to Nigerian data protection law, and, if you’re in the EU or UK, the GDPR, you can ask us to give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you, correct it if it’s wrong, delete it, or stop using it for a particular purpose. Write to the details on our contact page and we’ll respond within as quickly as we can.
Children
This site is intended for a general adult audience. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll remove it.
Links to other sites
We link to retailers, marketplaces and other sources. Once you follow a link you’re on someone else’s site, under their privacy policy, and we’re not responsible for how they handle your data.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page when what we do changes, and we’ll change the effective date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the page rather than made quietly.
