Tecno Phantom X2 Pro Specifications

Checkout of it’s special features:

The Tecno Phantom X2 Pro uses the best display we’ve ever seen on a smartphone from Tecno, a 6.8 inches AMOLED panel that refreshes at 120 Hz. It gets reasonably bright with a peak brightness of 500 nits, making for comfortable viewing in sunny areas.

The screen has a resolution of 1080 x 2400, which is one of the best on a Tecno phone. While the 387 pixels per inch density isn’t exceptionally remarkable, the fact that it’s an AMOLED panel makes up for that. In short, the display is gorgeous.

The Tecno Phantom X2 uses a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip, MediaTek’s first try at competing with the best from Qualcomm. Compared to last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 from Qualcomm, this chip competes favorably, coming ahead of the industry leader in some benchmarks.

Dimensity 9000 has eight cores: one clocked at 3.05 GHz, three running at 2.85 GHz, and the rest at 1.8 GHz. It uses the Mali G710 GPU for graphics, which is also one of the best in its class. In short, you should expect a similar performance as the Galaxy S23 in a Tecno phone; that’s crazy!

Rather than settle with the 5000 mAh cell that Tecno includes in almost all of its phones, the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro got a slight upgrade, featuring a 5160 mAh battery. The jump isn’t significant, but a few extra minutes of battery life is always appreciated.

As expected, you can only charge the phone via USB Type-C, powering its support for up to 45W fast charging. If you have no idea how fast that is, Tecno promises 54% in only 20 minutes of charging.

The Tecno Phantom X2 Pro features the best camera system in any Tecno smartphone, and it’s surprisingly a triple camera setup. You get a 50 MP f/1.9 primary lens, another 50 MP telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom and a retractable lens, and a third 13 MP ultrawide camera for wider shots.

The 50 MP telephoto camera is what Tecno claims to be the first “retractable portrait lens,” but the company quoted no benefits of the retraction. On the front, you get a 32 MP wide camera with LED flash for selfies. While the rear cameras can shoot up to 4k at 60 fps, the selfie camera can only do a maximum of 1080p at 30 fps.

RAM/Internal Storage

The Tecno Phantom X2 Pro comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage, a configuration that should be more than enough if you only use your phone for ‘smartphone things.’ However, Tecno didn’t include an SD card slot with the Phantom X2 Pro for reasons best known to them. If the internal storage isn’t enough, buy Google Drive Storage.

Operating System

The Tecno Phantom X2 Pro ships with the Android 12 operating system on Tecno’s unique skin dubbed HiOS 12. HiOS 12 features all native features of the OS while adding a few extra features for Tecno phones.

Surprisingly, you can update the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro to Android 13, and some insiders report that Android 14 is in the works for the device. With Tecno notorious for not providing updates to their smartphones, regardless of the price range, this development is a welcome one, and we hope it will extend to the budget and mid-range variants too.

You get an under-display optical fingerprint sensor when you buy the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro, putting it in the league of premium devices like itself. The fingerprint scanner works fine for unlocking the phone and locking apps. You also get a proximity sensor, a gyroscope, a compass, and NFC with the device.

Water Resistance

Despite having the most inviting specs of any Tecno phone, the Phantom X2 Pro has no water resistance features to protect itself against water damage. With almost every other brand offering water and dust resistance on even their budget phones, this inconspicuous exclusion is a big bummer for Tecno.

This device beats my imagination. I love the unibody curved design. To crown it all, the retractable portrait lens is breathtaking. – @idarachris-emediongumoren815

I’ve never thought of that, a periscope like camera, I feel like this is a potential evolution for smartphone cameras, smartphone sensors are getting so big there is a physical limit to how large you can make it since camera bumps can only be acceptably so large. The solution is to motorise the periscope not to the extent of a point and shoot but just enough to double or triple the distance from the lens to facilitate a even larger sensor. – @jesselam5867
