Apple iPhone 7 Specifications

The iPhone 7 has a mediocre display for today’s standards: a 4.7” Retina IPS LCD with 750×1334 pixels. While it’s great for 2016, it’s way too tiny compared to most 2023 phones, as you’ll struggle to find anything that isn’t larger than 6” on a smartphone.

On the bright side, the display gets plenty bright, with a 625 nits maximum brightness. The 326 pixels per inch is also sufficient, given that most budget phones have less than that. Also, the display features 3D touch and has a home button, features you won’t find on iPhones these days.

The iPhone 7 features an Apple A10 Fusion processor, a 2016 quad-core smartphone processor from Apple, and a PowerVR Series 7XT Plus GPU. Both chipsets combine to make the iPhone 7 one of the fastest phones for 2016. Six years later, however, it’s no longer one of the most performant phones on the market.

Nevertheless, the iPhone 7 isn’t a terrible choice if you only use your smartphone for basic tasks like watching YouTube or scrolling Twitter. However, if you’re after something that runs Call of Duty Mobile at 60fps, you’re better off with a newer iPhone.

Going by pure number, the iPhone 7 has one of the tiniest battery capacities in any high-end smartphone from 2016, but it’s a bit misleading. Despite not having a large battery, its optimized software and efficient processor make it last long enough to compete favorably with other 2016 smartphones. For 2023, however, it’s not an excellent battery, and you’ll need a power bank.

The iPhone 7 has a single 12 MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. It’s a 28mm full-frame equivalent qualifying it as a wide sensor. The quad-LED tone flash lights up night shots, and the images also undergo HDR processing when necessary. The phone shoots 4k video at 30 frames per second without jitters or shakiness, thanks to optical image stabilization.

RAM/Internal Storage

This iPhone 7 lineup saw the end of 16 GB iPhones, a long overdue development by 2016. The iPhone 7 comes in 32, 64, 128, and 264 GB variants, all at different prices. Since the device lacks an SD card slot for expandable storage, consider buying the highest storage variant.

Also, the device features 2 GB of memory, which is plenty for a 2016 iPhone. While it can get a bit laggy for 2023 apps, it’s good enough for light tasks like web browsing, streaming YouTube, and keeping up with your friends on WhatsApp or iMessage.

The iPhone 7 has an IP67 water resistance rating, making it capable of surviving under 1m of water for up to 30 minutes. While that isn’t as good as the IP68 water resistance rating on newer smartphones, you should be fine if you don’t live underwater.

Operating System

The iPhone 7 came with iOS 10.0.1, an outdated operating system for 2023, but fortunately, you can update it to iOS 15.7, one major system update behind the latest version of iOS. The experience with iOS 15 is so smooth that you can use an iPhone 7 for another couple of years with no problem. If you want the least expensive iPhone that can run the latest version of iOS, the iPhone 8 is the device for you.

You can’t find a new iPhone anywhere nowadays; today, you have to make do with a used or refurbished version of the device with a few scuffs here and there. Thanks to that, the iPhone 7 price in Nigeria is at an all-time low, making it the best time to grab one of those ancient little devices.

Apple iPhone 7 – user opinions and reviews

I still love the iPhone 7, even though it is not going to get iOS 16 support.Sure, the camera on it is bad and all, but it is a relatively nice phone. I don’t like leaving things in the past, and it pains me to see old things close and new things come, so I’m gonna take care of my iPhone 7 until it breaks. – 0Never1 Media

I’m typing this on my iPhone 7. I’m actually still on the original battery and can make it through the whole day as long as I’m not on it constantly. Overall for just web browsing, texting, and YouTube it still feels fast enough. I’ve considered getting an SE2 if I ever do decide to replace it, but for $400 that phone seems way overpriced and is pretty much 2 years old at this point. Hopefully they’ll make an SE3 with the A14/A15 chip. – Robert Smith

im watching on my iphone 7. got it when i was 16 & im now 21. i love how light & thin it is, touch id, home button & that it has an aluminium back!! ive dropped my phone countless times over the years and i have never ever used a case. i need an upgrade bc of my battery and the camera, but the new glass back is the stupidest thing they couldve ever thought of – although it makes them a whole lot of money. – Kiara tulei

I’ve had my iPhone 7 for three years now. Though it is definitely livable it does have its fair share of issues. I am a pretty heavy phone user though and it should be fine for the average person. My pain problem is the overheating. During phone calls I often have to take my phone case off to let it cool down. It actually gets to the point where it could burn me. It also only has 86% battery health so it has to throttle the cpu slowing it down even more. It’s also only 32gb. Soon i’m going to inherent a family friend’s iPhone 11 pro with 512gb and I cant wwait. – CHMYRI

Still on my 7. One of the best iPhones that Apple has ever built! The camera still holds up, surprisingly. But, I will be upgrading to the 12 this month so really stoked for that. Great video man 🙂 – Pranav Durai
